We left Luperon in January, got back into the rhythm of life on the hook in Puerto Rico, experienced turquoise water in Caja de Muertos, and found a calm anchorage in Culebra to reset and visit with friends.
The BVIs lived up to the reputation as a charter guest’s paradise, so we didn’t stay long. After what felt like a never-ending passage, we indulged in the cuisine and stocked up the sailboat in Saint Martin. Finally, we hopped into the Eastern Caribbean – truly starting a new direction, where we didn’t beat directly into the trade winds.
Guadeloupe delighted our eyes with its lush scenery and vibrant colors, and a tiny cuttlefish danced with us in the Iles des Saintes. We explored Dominica by land and underwater: a tropical locale with good vibes. And, while Martinique was a quick stop the first time, we celebrated our 22nd wedding anniversary on the second stay.
Then, with a quick stop in Cumberland: a one-of-a-kind anchorage in Saint Vincent, we made our way to Bequia. Thinking we would only be there for a bit before heading south to Grenada, we stayed the duration of hurricane season around the Island of the Clouds. Great connections, crystal clear water, and so many beautiful views.
What unknown experiences will 2023 hold? Living in a floating home is the most challenging adventure we have leaped into, but also one of the best. It pushes us to our limits, teaches us to go with the flow, and to let go of what isn’t in our control.

Cheers & Happy New Year!
